President Tinubu Holds Emergency Meeting with South-South Monarchs Amid Rivers Crisis.

In a bid to quell the escalating tensions in Rivers State, President Tinubu has convened an emergency meeting with South-South monarchs, seeking their wisdom and influence to broker peace and stability in the troubled region. The high-stakes gathering comes as concerns mount over the crisis’s potential to destabilize the entire Niger Delta, and the President’s intervention is seen as a critical step towards finding a lasting solution.

President Bola Tinubu is currently holding a meeting with the Asagba of Asaba, Delta State, Obi Professor Epiphany Azinge, SAN, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The monarch arrived with other royal fathers, who are presumed to be members of the Obi-in-Council.

The meeting takes place amid growing tension following President Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State. Announced earlier this week, the emergency rule resulted in the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and all members of the State House of Assembly for an initial period of six months.

As part of the emergency measures, Tinubu also appointed former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd.), as the sole administrator of Rivers State.

The outcome of President Tinubu’s meeting with the Asagba of Asaba and other royal fathers remains to be seen. However, as tensions continue to rise over the state of emergency in Rivers State, all eyes remain on the federal government’s next steps.

Nigerians await further developments, hoping for a resolution that ensures stability and governance in the affected region.
