Mystery Surrounds Death Of Couple And Family Dog In A Resident In Cardiff

Police are probing the mysterious deaths of a couple and their family dog, discovered in their home. While details remain scarce, officials confirm that foul play is not suspected, and the focus shifts to determining the cause of the incident.

An investigation has been launched after a couple, believed to be in their 70s, were found dead at a house in Cardiff.

South Wales Police said it was investigating their sudden deaths at the property in the Trowbridge area of the city.

Formal identification has not yet taken place, but officers say the bodies are believed to be those of a 72-year-old woman and a 74-year-old man.

In a statement, the force said a rifle had been recovered from the property, and a dog was also found dead at the address.

The force said the couple’s next of kin were being supported.

Police were called to the house in Morfa Crescent, at around 2.50 pm. on Saturday.

Detective Chief Inspector Lianne Rees from South Wales Police said the couple’s deaths had “shocked and saddened the local community.”

“Extensive enquiries are being conducted to establish the circumstances leading up to the incident,” she added.

DCI Rees said officers were awaiting the results of post-mortem examinations to confirm the cause of death.

She said police were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

Cordons remain in place at the scene, and police have thanked the community for its patience.
