Sowore Freed After DSS Detention At Lagos Airport, Announced Plans for Revolution.

Human Rights Activist Omoyele Sowore has been released by the Department of State Service (DSS) after a brief detention at the Lagos airport, sparking jubilation among  his  supporters.

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has been released from Department of State Services (DSS) custody after a brief detention. Earlier, Sowore was held at Lagos Airport by Nigeria Immigration authorities on behalf of the DSS, pending an order from higher authorities

Omoyele Sowore, the convener of the #RevolutionNow protest, stated that he was detained by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos upon his arrival from the United States.

According to his website, Sahara Reporters, Sowore was previously reported to have been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS), a report that was picked up by many media outlets, including TheFount.

Sowore’s Take It Back Movement is currently planning another protest scheduled for October 1.

In a social media post, Sowore mentioned that his passport was also seized by the NIS.

“I had just arrived in Nigeria from the USA to the MMIA in Lagos; upon reaching Nigerian Immigration, my passport was seized, and they told me they had orders to detain me,” he wrote.

“This is not un expected because I have always known that It is part of the broader clampdown by the fascist Bola Ahmed Tinubu regime on dissent and their fear of the upcoming revolt.

In case this becomes another prolonged and protracted detention, I urge our citizens to ensure they ALL stop tyranny by all means acceptable and necessary, by engaging in the planned series of direct actions slated for October 1st and beyond.”, he wrote.
